Take Stock in Children Palm Beach County

Take Stock in Children, Inc. is a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships, mentors, and hope to at-risk students. Working in every county throughout Florida, Take Stock in Children Palm Beach is 1 of 46 affiliate offices. Since 1995, the program's mission has focused on breaking the cycle of poverty for low-income, academically qualified students by providing opportunities for post-secondary education. The program model is recognized as a "flagship mentoring program" by the Florida Legislature for providing an evidence-based approach throughout Florida with no drop-off of services post-high school graduation. Students are matched with a caring volunteer mentor, equipped with academically focused intervention, guaranteed a 2-year college scholarship, and provided with post-secondary retention services. The program is the single largest purchaser of Florida Prepaid Scholarships in the state of Florida. Scholarship dollars are matched $1 for $1 by the Florida Prepaid Foundation. (Less)
